A record number of international competitors in the TAITAJA2015 event

The Taitaja2015 event, held in Turku on the 5th-7h of May, has attracted international competitors from 13 countries. The guest competitors are participating in 30 different skills categories. There are 45 skills categories in the Taitaja 2015 event. A record high number of international competitors, 45 persons, are arriving to Turku for this year's event. There will also be 30 trainers arriving with the competitors. Most of the competitors come from Europe, some competitors are coming from Asia and South America.
Several foreign guests from dozens of countries will also be participating in the event.

There are various reasons for participating the event from abroad. The most important reasons are meeting the Finnish and international competitors, comparing their training and finding out about the possible differences between vocational skills. Taitaja2015 also acts as a dress rehearsal for World Skills São Paulo 2015 competition, where the competitors will try to achieve the world championships in their own categories.

In the Taitaja2015 event, internationality will show and be put into practise in many ways, adapted to different target groups. Both actors and implementers of vocational education will be taken into account, extending from young competitors to the administration of vocational education. Taitaja2015 will also show concretely that internationality is an important part of present-day vocational education. In addition to the international competitors, internationality will also show in the assessment of competition performances.

On the 6th of May, in connection with the Taitaja event, a seminar on the subject The Skills, the Young and the Work is arranged in English. Representatives of EuroSkills and WorldSkills organizations as well as other foreign guest groups and foreign media are invited to the seminar. There will also be guests from the Nordic twin cities' delegations and from the EuroSkills Göteborg 2016 event. In the seminar there will be listeners from as far away as Brazil as well as China and other Asian countries. Up to 400 persons can participate in the seminar.

The Taitaja2015 event, the Finnish championships in vocational education, TaitajaPLUS and Taitaja9, will be held at the Turku Fair and Congress Centre and HK Areena on 5th–7th May 2015. The event is organized as a cooperation between Skills Finland ry, Turku Vocational Institute, Axxell Utbildning Ab, the Bovallius Vocational Education and Training Centre, the Southwest Finland Municipal Education and Training Consortium, the Peimari Education and Training Consortium, the Salo Region Educational Federation of Municipalities, the Raisio Regional Education and Training Consortium, and Turun Ammattiopistosäätiö (Turku Vocational School Foundation).
